The Arkansas Arts Center Uses Blackbaud Solutions To Achieve a Holistic View of Patrons through One Source of Data

For more than 30 years, the Arkansas Arts Center has been steadfastly committed to its mission of ensuring that learning, inspiration, and creative expression in the arts flourish throughout Arkansas. Founded in 1960 and located in Little Rock, the Center has built acclaimed collections of art and prominent exhibitions, making it the leading cultural institution in Arkansas. In addition, the Center is host to a children’s theater, a museum school, a community outreach program, and touring programs.

The Challenge:
Multiple databases created duplicated efforts and inaccurate information, and restricted the marketing and development departments from seeing a holistic view of each patron and how they interacted with the Center and its many programs. Facing increased competition for donor funding along with a higher demand for accountability, the Center found it difficult to use a for-profit accounting application to manage its accounting and generate stewardship reports for its constituents. It became clear that the Center needed an integrated solution that could allow staff from several departments to enter and view constituent information from one source of data.

The Solution:
To achieve a holistic view of donors, the Center implemented Blackbaud’s solution for arts and cultural organizations, including The Raiser’s Edge for fundraising management, The Patron Edge for ticket management, The Patron Edge Online for online ticketing, The Financial Edge for financial management, and The Education Edge for school management.

The Results:
As a result, operations have been streamlined, the staff members are free to work on other programs, and direct mail duplication rates have decreased by more than 60 percent. The system is user-friendly, so it is much easier to add a patron record and for the front-line staff to learn; therefore, fewer mistakes are made in the database. Ticketing has become simplified while maintaining a high level of security. Online ticket sales have increased by more than 500 percent now that patrons are able to make purchases on the Center’s website. In addition, comprehensive tracking has enabled the Center to provide a higher level of accountability to supporters and members.
